Hi, just wanted to drop in and thank you for the great site! As I read the articles concerning winterizing our homes, I’d like to suggest that we not forget, if we have rain gutters, that we give them a good cleaning prior to cold weather setting in and snow starts to fall. I was lucky to have received hand me downs for most the baby gear I needed, so I was able to really focus on things for the nursery on my baby registry. I tried to find really unique, often handmade items for the nursery so it would be really special. I wanted things that I could pass down to my daughter when she’s old enough. I used myregistry.com to register for a lot of things on Etsy, and this also allowed me to let the host of my shower send out these cute eCards they have to the guests so that they would have a link to my registry. We uploaded a picture of my giant belly on them so it was very cute.

i took a survey awhile back to see if i was elgible for the scanner. which apparently i was not at the time. so i was wondering if i stay on the waiting list or if i have to reapply for the waiting list.

The tip about the freezer is a good one. If you want to be able to take advantage of sales and stock up on meats and frozen food items, a freezer is what you need.

My husband loves re-using frosting containers to hold artist paints for his works-in-progress.

I also save the screw-top plastic jars (bulk salsa, etc) and use those to hold leftovers and to mix large quantities of water with a thickening agent.

Schools can also use scraps of fabric and yarn leftover from projects. It’s a great way to get rid of the ends.

My family of choice always has a big Thanksgiving Dinner which includes multiple families, and it is potluck, which is awesome. Even more amazing, they have this goal that none of the food come from more than 100 mile radius, and be organic when possible. So, it’s all local produce and meat, much of it from local farmers and the food co-op. It feels so good to participate in a meal like that!

Choosing the right appliances is the MOST important part. Big energy savings can be had with the right combination of laundry equipment. The new front-load washers not only use less water, but they do not need hot water AND the spin the clothes out so fast that they come out almost dry.

Then just take those ‘almost dry’ clothes and hang them up on a clothes drying rack indoors or out (depending on the season). Zero energy drying

You are correct about a 3 wheel mobility scooter being a bridge to a power wheelchair. In many cases the low cost travel mobility scooters are all most people with disabilities need to maintain their independence. Quality low cost electric mobility scooters range in price from around $500 up to about $1000. You can get a mobility scooter that cost more, but they really don’t offer a great deal of additional benefits for the added price. Excellent Post!

I got $100 worth of gift cards for transferring my prescriptions over to Rite-Aid. Unfortunately their pharmacy staff was so incompetent, I wound up going back to CVS!

Oh well…

Another way to save on drugstore items is to shop online. Stores like Walgreens or drugstore.com often have promo codes at sites like Savings.com–combined with on-site promotions (like drugstore.com dollars…), you can often save more than at the local brick and mortar store.

I love learning about news ways to save money, so thanks for sharing this. I am still studying so sometimes I can’t get money to buy greetings, gifts and everything else ontop of birthdays. I now tend to send my friends free birthday greetings cards online instead of shop bought ones. I have saved so much money on greetings and postage, and my friends love receiving something different. I hope this is helpful to all those people who are strapped for cash at the moment like me!
