Frugal Simplicity

After much searching and testing various new Wordpress templates to give Frugal Simplicity a makever, we found that none of the Wordpress templates we looked at and tried worked the way we wanted them to. The ones the looked nice didn’t accomodate our present advertisers, the ones that did simply didn’t look good, and so forth.

So in the spirit of frugal living at it’s best, we worked and worked and tweaked and tweaked… reusing what the same general template we had used. But since that wouldn’t work with the new Wordpress upgrade, it required a lot of tweaking.

We removed most of the coloring in the body of the template, and made it a bit plainer. We chose to keep the sun rise header, because it (to me) symbolizes the beginning of a new day and starting over.. trying again.. a reminder to keep on trying and not giving up.. knowing that tomorrow is always a new day and a fresh start… refreshing!

I am sure over the coming days that we will notice a few minor things that will need to be tweaked a bit more.

Also a special note… we are headed into our 9th year with Frugal Simplicity! We will continue to bring our readers frugal living tips, frugal recipes, freebies and free product samples, better budgeting tips, money savings ideas, frugal decorating resources, and loads more!

Frugal Simplicity is getting an overhaul and a brand new look. We are moving all of our blogs to a new host and because this particular blog was using a Wordpress template that wasn’t compatible with the newer Wordpress update, we chose to just totally remake Frugal Simplicity with a new look rather than keep an outdated version of Wordpress just to support the template we were using.

With our move comes the fun of having to go in and manually remake much of these blogs. While all of our frugal articles and frugal pages are up with the move, the frugal living tips and frugal resources will have to be manually added, so that will take a little time.

Also in the coming days, we will be adding some new features to our frugal blog. Readers will find more frugal recipes, freebies, discount codes, bargains, coupons, and frugal living tips. We are looking into starting a membership saving money club.

With the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, we can often find ourselves yearning for a quieter, simpler way of living. If your life has come to resemble an endless race to the finish line, take a look at the suggestions below to bring a greater sense of calm and simplicity back into your life.

Less is more. It’s amazing how much stuff we can accumulate in our homes because we think they’ll contribute to our lives. It’s true that we gain enjoyment from material possessions, but the more we accumulate the more burdened we often feel. Begin immediately to clear out the material possessions you no longer need or want, and donate them to a local charitable organization. Pare down your activities. An active life is good for you, but not if it leaves you feeling stressed and fatigued! Most of us take on much more than necessary as far as obligations and even recreational activities are concerned.

Take a few minutes to think about the things you do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Do you really need to do all of them? Have you taken on responsibilities that really aren’t yours? Are you spending time on activities you no longer enjoy? Make a list of at least a few activities or obligations that you can eliminate, and then go ahead and do so, even if you have to pare them down gradually.

Spend time in silence. A deceptively simple way to live a life of simplicity and ease is to shut out the mental and physical noise of your busy life on a regular basis. Sitting in silence for just a few minutes can drastically reduce your stress levels and leave you feeling calm, centered and happy.

If you live near a park or natural setting, you can even boost the effectiveness of this activity by spending time in nature. While not completely silent, natural settings have soothing sounds like running water, singing birds and wind sighing through trees – which automatically trigger feelings of peace and well-being.

When it comes right down to it, living a simpler life is about learning how to slow down and connect more deeply with your inner self. Whether you do that by simplifying your surroundings, calming your schedule or enjoying a quiet respite each day, the result is the same, a happier and more peaceful you!
