    Corn Dog Recipe

Are you wanting to know how to make your own corn dogs? Corn dogs are yummy and easy to make at home. This homemade corn dog recipe is one the family is sure to love. This corn dog recipe offers an easy and delcious corn dog recipe that you can make instead of using the store bought ones.

    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 cup yellow cornmeal
    1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    3 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
    2 eggs
    1 cup milk
    1/4 cup vegetable oil
oil or shortening for deep frying
1 pound hot dogs, about 10, or use 1 pound of cocktail hot dogs
wooden skewers, popsicle sticks, or toothpicks for cocktail hot dogs

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt and chili powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs with milk and the 1/4 cup of oil. Stir egg and milk mixture into dry ingredients and whisk together until batter is smooth.

Heat oil in the deep fryer to 360°, or until it’s just about to smoke. You want the oil to be very hot so that when the corn dog is put into the oil it begins to fry immediately.

Lightly flour each weiner. This makes the batter stick to the wieners. Insert a wooden skewer or popsicle stick into each hot dog, to make a “handle” for the hot dogs. Holding the stick or skewer, dip each hot dog into batter, turning to coat thoroughly and evenly.

Fry corn dogs in 2 or 3 batches, for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown. Don’t cook anymore than 3 at a time so they cook correctly. Drain on paper towels.

Frugal Clothes Drying With the Expandable Clothes Dryer Rack

Drying your clothes with a clothes dryer is great, but it can run your electric bill sky high, especially in the summer months when it’s hot anyway.

I’ve been using a clothes drying rack for a while and love it. I have four of them, one of each family member. Instead of running the dryer all the time and heating up the house, causing the A/C to have to work even more to cool the house, I use clothes dryer racks to hang the clothes on and dry them free of charge.

These are great for inside the house…no having to go outside in the heat to hang clothes out and then go out again to bring them back in. My clothes never get forgotten outside in the rain either.

And the best part? I save a load of money on my power bill by not using the dryer most of the time. If you want to save money on your light bill, try these clothing dryer racks out. They are so worth it!

Frugal Living Tips: Ways to Save Money at the Supermarket

Saving money on food and groceries can prove to be difficult when the price of eating tends to cut deep into even the best made budget. Rather than become discouraged and spend money outside of the food budget, try incorporating some new money saving strategies into your shopping trips.

Saving money on some items can allow to budget for special treats and holiday shopping. Spending less money on groceries doesn’t mean you have to eat less or eat icky food. On the contrary, by shopping smart you can actually shop and bring home more food for yummy meals.

Planning meals a week or more at a time is a good way to help save money on the cost of buying food and groceries. If you know what you are going to cook and serve for a meal, you can purchase the items needs for those meals ahead of time and have everything on hand for preparing the meals.

Before going grocery shopping, be sure to have a list of what you plan on buying, items you have coupons for, and what’s on sale. Be sure to prioritize the shopping list, posting necessary items first. Avoid purchasing things you don’t really need unless you have the available funds within the food budget. Smart shopping and using these money saving tips will allow you to have extra money to get those extra special treats. Be sure to have your list with you when you shop. A list left at home won’t help you!

The number one way to save money shopping is to not buy name brand products. Most, if not all, generic or store brand products are put up by the big name brand companies, simply labeled and packaged differently. Unless the name brand product is on sale or you have coupons for the items, you are usually going to pay more for the exact same item that could be bought under the store brand or generic brand name. Since the packaging is just for looks, why spend money on the can, box, bag, or paper container that will only go into the trash can?

Save leftovers! Leftovers can often be frozen to make into delicious new meals at a later date. For example, leftover chicken can be served in a salad or as chicken alfredo, leftover ham could be put into omelets, a stew, or into a gravy. There are endless possibilities to revive a leftover dish into something new and yummy.

Keep a list of basic items that you always buy when shopping, such as seasonings. When you are running low or are out of a necessity make a note of it on the list. This will insure that when you shop, you won’t forget something you need.

When making your shopping list, keep in mind items that can be used in a variety of ways or prepared in different way. Items like chicken, beef, pasta, vegetables, etc, can be prepared in multiple ways. Purchase in bulk when possible to take advantage of the savings and freeze in serving size portions for later.

Invest in a good bread maker if your family eats a lot of bread. Making your own bread can save a lot of money and the homemade bread is so delicious. The bread will keep just fine for about a week, and it can be refrigerated to help it stay fresh longer.

Don’t go shopping when you are hungry. Eat before leaving home! If you go shopping for food and groceries and are hungry, you will undoubtedly end up buying and spending money above your budget. Everything will look enticing, so eat before you shop.

When making a grocery budget be sure to allow a little extra money for holiday meals and cooking. When making a grocery shopping list, try to avoid precooked meals or products. These usually cost far more than their homemade counterparts. When buying meats, buy boneless trimmed meats so that you aren’t paying for a bone and fat that you most likely will not use.

Learning better budgeting of your money when shopping for food and groceries can save you a lot of money and help stretch your food dollar further. Better shopping habits and meal planning by using these money saving tips can greatly improve what inhabits your pantry.

Dryer Lint Treasures: When Trying to Save Money Goes Way Overboard

I’m a frugal person. I admit it freely. I’m not ashamed of it, rather I’m proud of the fact that I save money here by not wasting it so I can get something I want there. I’m sure we all know of people that are frugal, that don’t waste or throw away money. It’s a great life.

Then there are tightwads…people who are just that, tight with their money. That’s great too. Not wasting money or spending when not necessary is wonderful.

A frugal person manages the money they have, living within their means. Being frugal doesn’t mean being cheap. I know of many frugal people who are well off financially because they manage their money well.

Tightwads can pinch something out of a penny that most of the world never knew existed. They know how to spot a bargain, cut corners, etc. Can’t beat that!

Perhaps you can imagine what was going through my mind when I read something recently from someone asking a question about what to do with dryer lint. It seemed a reasonable question. I suppose that being the somewhat silly person I am, I naturally thought to myself, “Throw it away!”

Needless to say, that was the wrong answer to give to a tightwad, so (lucky for me) I didn’t tell the person that. Reading on, I found people were giving this person all sorts of advice and ideas on what to do with this used dryer lint.

Okay, you know that dryer lint is the stuff on the dryer lint filter screen, right? The fuzz that comes off of the clothing as it dries? I keep (as I am sure most people do) a small trash can beside my dryer to host the collection of used dryer sheets and dryer lint. After reading all of the tips and ideas from people on what to do with this used dryer lint, I have determined that I have wasted a precious treasure. I’m not sure I can live down the horror of having disposed of this host of fuzz.

Have you ever stuffed a pillow with dryer lint? Even better, how about sewing decorative pillows to sell and make money, and stuff dryer lint fuzz into the middle of it to save money on the pillow filling? Wouldn’t that be a blast to find after you bought the pillow? Ever made a bird nest from it? How about a spider web for the kids science project? How about put it in the bottom of a gift to make the person think they really have something more than they have, only to open it and discover dryer lint filling? Anyone ever used their fuzz for kitty litter? I think my favorite was the one I read about using dryer lint in baby’s diaper to absorb you know what…. yeah, that’s a bit icky.

Some of you might be asking this one…..if these people are such tightwads, why are they using a dryer to begin with? Why not a clothes line that doesn’t use power and run up the electric bill? Well, that answer is simple, if you think about it. How would they have the dryer lint to keep and use for these wonderful dryer lint treasures if they saved money to begin with by using the clothes line?

Frugal Fun: Printable Coloring Pages eBook: Horses

Horses are one of God’s most beautiful creatures. With their flowing manes, captivating speeds, and awe inspiring power and majesty, horses have long been one of our most favorite animals. And rightly so. Horses are wonderful to be around, whether for work or play.

Throughout time, many artists have focused on horses as the subject of their works. Even today, horses are still very much present in artists and craft persons’ representations.

If you are an avid craft artist, you may find yourself drawn to using horses as the subject of your works. Their flowing lines and handsome features make them ideal for such depiction.

Whether it’s scrapbooking, painting, coloring, embroidery, or stained glass, horses are an ideal animal to make the focus of your work. But, it’s not always easy to find easy to use templates of horses.

I’ve tried in the past to find images of horses that are not already loaded with color and that would be conducive to using as templates. And, sadly, my search did not result in any good, quality templates.

So, I decided to do something about it. I started creating my own templates to use for my arts and crafts projects. And now, I am making my own personal collection available to you.
